Why Many Asian Women Prefer White Men

18 10 2007

My dad used to wonder very much why so many Asian women choose white men over their own colour. Well, wonder no more my father. Below is my point of view.

Beforehand I have a small argument with my dad about being pregnant. My sister is currently 6 months pregnant and she has been hit by the hormones and is a little sad and depressed. This is due to the fact that my brother-in-law now “takes over” the friendship of my sister and her friends. He hang out with their friends often and remained his recreation hobby every Sunday. She quitted smoking because she’s pregnant and is very jealous that he still can smoke. She feels that she has lost her freedom and he is not being supportive enough to share the “lost-of-freedom”.

That was just a simple example. My dad believes that since you are born as the female species, it’s not your choice to pick who is responsible for the baby. He has an opinion that women MUST be responsible to bear the 9 months (Chinese believe 10 months) of pregnancy while the man can remain his normal lifestyle.

I disagreed with him. I feel that this is totally unfair. Both of them wanted a child and since she has not choice but to bear it (because he can’t bear the baby, duh!), she also deserve some understanding and support.

My dad feels that the man brings back the dough and the woman shall bear the baby. Not true! For the past 20 years, women have revolutionized and bring home some dough too. So, how do you want to compare that? Would you (as a man) prefer to bear the baby instead? Let’s say that the pressure from work is the same as the pressure from pregnancy and baby and kids. But the woman also work 24 hours – to feed, clean, nurture, etc.

So, now – the white man’s view. This is a conclusion I made after a discussion with my German fiancé. He believes that woman also need to work. It’s only fair that she also bring home some dough. He believes that the man should also take turn to feed the baby (with a bottle of course!), clean, nurture, etc. Also, he says that a man should also understand the pressure the mom is having. This is also one of the reasons whereby a man is able to take 1 year off work to take care of the baby so that the mom can go back to work and not fall behind in the social level.  Oh thank god I chose the right one!

The other thing. My dad feels that confrontation is bad. It causes troubles. I think otherwise. I think that honesty is the best policy. Whenever I or my fiancé is not satisfied with anything, we say it out. Yes, sometimes we disagree and get into an argument. But in the end, we compromise and determine the best approach or solution.

So, I will not compare the two types side by side, but I guess after reading this, you should know what I’m saying.

Crime Rise in Malaysia

10 08 2007

There has been a brutal rise in crime rates in Malaysia. Regardless what the statistic says, I still think that the crime rate is getting worse and worse. Although I am not physically in Malaysia, I can see the list of crimes stated in the online news getting longer and longer.

It really gets one wondering what the police is doing about the crime rate. Although they are actually out to solve crimes, I still think that prevention is better than cure. There are so many times where it is reported in the news about how quick and fast the crimes have been solved. But think about it, what about the other unsolved crimes. Do they only report the good news about the arrests and prosecutions while hiding those unsolved mysteries?

I would strongly recommend doing a TV show similar to those in foreign countries whereby the unsolved crimes and mysteries are highlighted. This will also encourage the public to be on the lookout for the criminals. This would also remind those free-roaming criminals that the law did not forget about them. I believe that I’m not the first person who has this opinion.

But what is stopping them to do such production? Could it be that the police records are not clear (great example would be the Mongolian beauty murder case)? Or could it be that the police do not want to disclose the amount of unsolved crimes? Or perhaps it’s just that there are no unsolved crimes in Malaysia ;) .

What’s Up with the Murder Case?

8 08 2007

What’s happening to the murder trial of the Mongolian beauty? It seems that the fad is dying off. I wonder why??? Perhaps some influential people slowed down the publication of the news. I’m getting less and less interested anyway. Deep in my heart I know what’s going on and I intend to keep it that way.

The evidence seems murky and all the “trial within trial”s are so unnecessary, it only makes one feel that this is a big WAYANG or SANDIWARA just to entertain the mass public. Or even to stir things up a little bit to make the election seem more interesting.

Regretfully saying, I am one of those who have not registered to vote despite the fact that my right to vote has been given more than 8 years ago. As I really intend on not going back to Malaysia, I do not see the purpose and necessity for me to vote. I would rather not vote than to regret whom I had vote for.

PDRM

7 08 2007

The Royal Malaysian Police, or Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) in Malay, is a main branch of security forces in Malaysia. The force is a centralized organization that has a gamut of roles that ranges from traffic control to intelligence. Its headquarters is located in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur.

It seems that recently there have been many “interesting” things that’s happening within the force. According to a reliable source on independent news on the internet, the PDRM is in a serious state of civil war. Excerpts from the article:

Recently, the boss of bosses of the Chinese underworld that controls prostitution, gambling, drugs and loan sharking all over Malaysia got detained. This is that same guy who goes by the name of Tengku and who is said to be running the Royal Malaysian Police and who decides who gets promoted and who gets transferred. You would imagine with that arrest the activities of the Chinese organised crime syndicate would grind to a halt, or would at least be curtailed. But this was not to be. The arresting officers were instead called up for interrogation and now have to face disciplinary action for arresting the boss of bosses without the approval from the top.

I really don’t know what is becoming of Malaysia. Everyday when I read the news, I gt more and more frustrated and worried about my family’s safety. The increasing crime rate, the mothers who killed their babies, the husband who strangled the wife, the women getting raped and killed in her own home, the wife and mother who got peeped while she has her shower, etc. These are the stuffs that makes the people live in fear and paranioa. I start to feel that I should evacuate my parents out of the country as it is not safe for them to stay there anymore. Unfortunately, I am not in jurisdiction to decide whether or not they are to remain in Malaysia.

Of course, despite these horrible things that are going in the country, Malaysia is still where I was born and raised whether I like it or not. If I was to make the choices again, I would still do the same. These experiences had thought me about the ups and downs on life and what the world is made of.

Malaysia is truly a very “interesting” and complicated country. I don’t think one can ever find another country similar to Malaysia. Where there is legal racism preference, where one is not allowed to question ones right, where one has the freedom to choose his/her religion, but then again not a freedom if you are a Muslim. These are just minor examples as the bigger ones are inappropriate to be disclosed for the sake of not tarnishing the country’s image totally.
