We arrived at KLIA at approximately 0445. But we were already so exhausted and also frustrated because we have not had a smoke in more than 11 hours. We were searching for the smoking room at the satellite tower but couldn’t find it because there were no directions and labels on the door. It was just a small little sign that says “Please Keep Door Closed to Prevent Smoke from Escaping”.
My parents picked us up at 0545 and we went scouting for something to eat. Initially I wanted to have some BKT (Some Chinese soup with Pork Spare-parts) but it was too early in the morning and nothing good was opened. So we just ended up at a Chinese coffee shop and some “Prawn Noodles”. Only my parents had their meals; both I and C were too tired to eat anything.
We were home in half hour and were have a smoke at the balcony while enjoying the sunrise. There weren’t actually much sunrise because it was raining. My parents said that we were lucky because it has not been raining for more than 2 weeks and suddenly it rains when we arrive; it would be really warm for us if it hadn’t rained.
We went for a long nap and woke up a little too late which is at about 1500. So we rushed to the shopping centre to get our New Year clothes. Unfortunately, the shops were almost closing so it was only C who got 2 new shirts from U-Parkson.
Then after that we went home for the reunion dinner and hung around a little bit until about midnight and went to bed.
P/S: Oh yeah… It is C’s birthday on the 18th and I got us 2 nights’ stay at the Cheong Fat Tze Mansion in Penang. I hope that he enjoys it.
Today is the first day of Chinese New Year. I woke up in the morning and poured my parents some tea (it’s a Chinese tradition thing to do on the first day of CNY). And then my dad gave me a big fat Ang Pow (Red Packet). Thanks Daddy! I really appreciate it.
After breakfast (me & my mom are vegetarian today until 1900) we had a shower and dressed up to pay my grandparents a visit at their home.
We were supposed to go to KL to take a look around but C wasn’t feeling really well so we went home and hung out at the pool instead. It was great as I hadn’t swum in almost half a year. But the weather didn’t permit us to hang out for too long; it was getting a little rainy. As soon as we were indoors, the lightning stuck hard and strong. We had another nap and went to my “Big Aunt’s” house for dinner. It was some sort of a custom because she was the eldest in my mom’s family since my grandparents are not around anymore. We had some food and then went home a little while after that.
We stayed in the rest of the night and went through some old photo albums. We went to bed pretty late (or perhaps early at about 0400).
Today is the second day of CNY and it’s actually an official first day of the New Year because it is believed that yesterday is some sort of a transition day. We had brotchen and leberwurst for breakfast. Relatives came over at about 1100 to 1200 for brunch. Mom cooked some exotic (only exotic to C) dishes and I will upload pictures of it for everyone to have a look.
After lunch, we went to The Curve with intention to do some shopping but we ended up with a magazine, a bottle of Body Shop shower gel, a pair of beach shoes (all mine) and Starbucks’ drinks in our hand. There was a lion dance there but then it was not the traditional one.
After that, we went back home and hung out at the pool with my parents. In less than 2 hours or so, it started to drizzle again. So we decided to change and go out for dinner.
We went to a Chinese coffee shop with many stalls for dinner. Dad ordered food like there’s no tomorrow and it looked like buffet spread on the table. Some food seems exotic to C and some not. We spent less than MYR50 (approximately EUR12) and all 4 of us were so stuffed, myself and C decided to take a walk home instead of taking the car.
We slept early this night because we were tired and we also know that tomorrow will be a long day.
Today is the 3rd day of CNY and on this day, we will be having an open house for some really close friends and families. We used to have a big party where we gamble and eat and drink all day and night; but it seems that now everyone is more matured and toned down. Some is already married and has gone to in-law’s place, some already has a family, some is tied up with other family engagements, some are busy, etc.
So, many came over and ate and drank and gambled a little. It wasn’t very fun for me and C because I lost MYR200 (approximately EUR45) and he lost MYR300 (EUR65) at “In Between”. But it was a great fun seeing my friends again. Dirk also came over for some food and drinks and he brought along Nadine and Julia. Julia is nice and funny.
Later that night after cleaning up, we went to my sister’s place to pass Cyera (our Schnauzer) to her. When we arrived, Chai’s sister was there with the family. Hmm… The look on Chai’s face doesn’t seem very pleasing. We didn’t stay for long because we were tired and we also have to pack-up for our East-North-West trip.
Today is the day we embark on our journey to the East Coast – Kuantan. We woke up and found that my grandparents and aunt was already here. We quickly got ourselves ready. We didn’t have breakfast with the others because it was too early for us to eat. So my mom, C and I had a toast at home and met up with them at a coffee shop nearby.
So, here we go. We went to Kuantan for lunch via the Karak Highway. It was not such a long drive because we used the new highway.
We arrived at Kuantan Town at approximately 1200 and had some simple lunch. Eat and eat again – that seems to be the motto. Sometimes, I can’t stand it that they eat and eat and rest and rest. They don’t really do anything much except sit in the car and gossip about other people. Where does their food go to??? I wonder.
We arrived at Duta Village Resort at approximately 1430. The rest went for a nap (is it THAT tiring???) and the 4 of us went and hung out at the beach. We saw some funny people around as it is really weird to see someone covering up their body with many towels so that they won’t get dark (they are Chinese and not Muslims). I have been looking forward for this so that I can get a nice tan and they are wasting the sunshine.
We had dinner at this Chinese seafood restaurant and after that some chats at the Sunday Bar and then we went to bed. The bed was not so comfortable but what can you complain? It’s not an expensive hotel; the facilities are pretty good but the maintenance was not so good. I believe it’s because it’s early of the year and they haven’t got the time to fully fix-up the place from the monsoon yet.
We woke up at about 0830 and went for our breakfast. Breakfast was really bad. The juice was like sugar water and the coffee smells funny.
After breakfast, we went to the beach for the last tan for about 1 ½ hour, showered, pack-up and checked-out. We went to Chukai for lunch at about 1200. Since I only had 2 buttered toasts for breakfast, I was quite hungry for lunch. We took a big lunch and continued with our journey.
Less than 1 ½ hours later, everyone in the other car bought corn and ate. Both of us were like HUH??? Are they hungry already??? Hmm… But we didn’t care.
We arrived at Sutera Beach Resort at approximately 1600 and settled down into the room. I was watching Miami Ink on TV so we went to the pool only at 1800. Since the pool closes at 1900 because they don’t have night lights for the pool, we went back for a rest and left for dinner at almost 2000.
We went driving around to look for something to eat and ended up at a road side stall. I have nothing against it because I’m flexible when it comes to food when I’m hungry. But unfortunately, the 3 musketeers were a little fussier. So after dinner we had a drink at the lounge and went back to the room for the rest of the night.
Today we woke up at about 0830 and went for our breakfast at the coffee house. At this resort, they served simple international and local breakfast. It’s enough for us as long as they have toast and coffee.
According to my mom, the 3 musketeers called her mobile phone at 0800 and told her that they were already done with their breakfast. My mom told my dad to go get them because she would like to roll-around a little more.
After breakfast C & I went for a miniature sun tan and snapped some photos at the poolside. Eventually we checked-out at 1100.
Today we will be departing to Betong, Thailand for 2 nights. After some long hill-crossing journey without mobile service, we arrived at the immigration at the Malaysia-Thailand border. We got our cars registered and passport stamped. It was a little weird as they took more than 10 minutes on C’s passport. I have a feeling that they don’t usually have foreigners besides Malaysians and Thais. Thailand is 1 hour behind Malaysia but since Betong is so near the border; many practice both time zones.
So, finally all is done and we arrived at Sometime Resort in less than half an hour. We settled down and went for an early dinner (we skipped lunch) at about 1800 Malaysian time. My aunt was commenting that dinner is too early as she is not hungry yet. *Well of course she wouldn’t be hungry if she ate throughout the journey* we had Thai-Chinese dinner and during that dinner, we saw some old men (who could barely walk straight) and local young chicks enter the restaurant. From then onward, I concluded that this is a town made for men (or old men).
We found a convenient store and went in to get some sundry stuff. In less than 5 minutes, the sky was pouring. We stood around and waited for the rain to stop. It must look a little weird for the locals to see a white person as I have not seen another white person there besides C. Some men must think that I’m a local and how lucky I am to get hooked up with a white man (common misconception of white men being horny and rich). And something funny also happened. C saw a local girl from dinner time and smiled at her. She smiled back instantly and seemed a little shy. An hour later in the streets, he saw her peeping at him again and of course, he smiled again. C told me about it and I told him that probably she wants him…
We went back to the resort, hung around a little and had a body massage. The girls were pretty young and pretty. C’s masseur was on the phone all the time. They were all lack of dedication and passion. The massage was dissatisfying although it costs only MYR30/hour (EUR6/hour).
After massage we ordered some supper and had a mini feast before going to bed.
We woke up this morning only to find out that breakfast has been prepared for us at the coffee house. The chef made some really nice noodles and curry. Unfortunately both C and I were not hungry yet so I just picked on the food. Again, the young musketeer came and said that the breakfast was too big for her and kept asking around for someone to share it. Eventually, she finished it all by herself.
We hired a tour guide with a van to send us around for a tour. It was really cheap; MYR150 (EUR25) for 7 people for 5 hours.
First we went to the communist camp that was active since the 50s up to 90s. The guy who guided us was actually a communist and was from the area where my dad grew up. The story is too long to be told here but the conclusion is that it is really interesting how they lived and battled.
Then we went to some boring botanical garden. I don’t see the point as it’s not a very beautiful one and it just looks like some flower farm. I and my mom stayed in the van to wait for them as it’s not interesting for us. We left after 10 minutes.
Then he showed us the sulphured public hot spring. We were supposed to go and take a dip there. As soon as C, my mom and I saw the condition of the area; we said no. The rest still went ahead and washed their hands in the murky looking water. M Jr kept insisting that the water is not sticky and encourages us to try it. It’s not that I afraid that it’s dirty; I just don’t want to end up going around the next couple of days having rashes on my hands.
We then departed for lunch at a simple restaurant. Nothing was very special about this lunch except that M Jr keeps playing/disturbing any small dog that she can find.
After lunch we went to a Chinese temple and burned some incense sticks and candles. C bought a pack of fire crackers and lit it. After the temple visit we went and did some shopping at the streets.
We went back to the resort and relaxed a little, had a long shower and chatted around. Dinner was ready at about 1900 Malaysian-time and it was really good. We had so much food and C loved the spicy-sour fish. It was too spicy for us but C loved it… *remember, it burns twice*
After dinner we ordered foot massage but this time I gave strict instructions that I want some who are old and fat so that it’s stronger and better. The masseurs came and the massage was really good. We have ordered them to come again tomorrow morning before we check-out.
Today we got up and had some toasts for breakfast instead. Finally, something that is simple and light. We rushed with our breakfast so that we will not be too full when we have our massages.
Masseurs came and went. It was really awesome; we felt like melted rubber after that; all soft and wobbly. It was so good so we gave an extra of MYR5 (EUR1) for each person. It wasn’t much for us but it means a lot to them. I didn’t want to embarrass the rest so I told my mom and M Jr that we gave extra. So my mom said that hers was also very good and gave her extra. M Jr insisted that we already gave them business last night for the foot massage (she didn’t even have THAT massage) and it was enough to give the stated price. I felt bad for the girl who massaged her.
We left that place at about 1100 and departed back to Malaysia for Penang Island. We passed the immigration and my dad took the wrong way because some smart ass made some direction comments. We wasted more than ½ hour for that.
We arrived in Penang at C’s birthday present. It’s Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. This mansion is about 100 years old and bears a story of a penniless Chinese man from Canton, China and how he grew to become one of the most historic and colourful personalities of the era. The story behind this mansion is spectacular but it is not possible for me to explain it all here. More information can be obtained at www.cheongfatttzemansion.com
After checking in, we went for a walk nearby and had something to eat at one of the nearby cafes. After a relaxing and stress-free meal, we shopped a little at the Sunday market and went back to the mansion to relax.
We went for dinner at a nearby fine-dining restaurant called 32. I strongly recommend this restaurant to those who enjoy the fine ambience and quality (not quantity) food. The staffs were nice and friendly. This is a great restaurant for those who are willing to toss some cash in exchange for excellent dining experience.
After dinner we went back to the mansion and hung around a little more and went to bed. We wanted to go visit some “Hokkien” Temple as today is their celebration of CNY. We had no idea which temple to go to and we were sure that it would be really flooded with people; so we decided to hang around instead.
We woke up in the middle of the night last night because we were sweating all over. I think there is something really wrong with the air conditioner. We argued a little on the rights and wrongs of the control buttons and eventually we got too tired and fell asleep.
We got up at about 0900 and had our breakfast at the courtyard and we also mentioned about our problems with the room to the staffs. After breakfast we went back to the room and updated our blogs and went out for sight-seeing at 1200.
First was the snake temple. There used to be heaps of snakes around but eventually many of them died; possibly from exposure to too much smoke from incense sticks or possibly from the great deal of tourists.
After the snake temple we went to the Penang Hill. We are to take a ½ hour train ride up the hill. The train ride was bad. It was stuffy and smelly and hot and packed. But the view from the top was really great. On our way up, there was even a Middle-Eastern couple who turned on some music from his mobile phone and sang along with it; we were like… huh???
After some dreadful ride back down from the hill, we went to KFC and had a late lunch. After lunch we went to the Burmese Buddhist Temple to snap some pictures and went back to the mansion for a rest.
I have no idea what is wrong with me as I was driving for ½ hour searching for the mansion but I couldn’t find it. Finally at a junction, C pointed to me the mansion and guided me back. I guess it just wasn’t my day or my city.
Later at night we joined the rest of the group at the Gurney Drive hawker centre and had some snacks to eat. Not too long after that dad sent the 3M back to their room for the night. The 4 of us went to a café near Slippery Senorita for some drinks and later retreated back to the room for the night.
Today is the last day of our journey. We joined the free tour for the mansion after breakfast. My dad, mom, aunt and grandfather also joined us on the tour (but they have to pay… hehehe). After getting the butler to settle my grandmother at the TV room, we started with the tour. It was very informative and it was also pretty fun for the both of us as no one else was allowed to take pictures inside the mansion except us (because we live there).
After the whole tour and some picture sessions, we waved goodbye to the mansion and left.
We went to Bidor for a break and some duck noodles and then continued on with our journey back home.
We arrived home at approximately 1730 and took a rest before going for dinner at my favourite Japanese restaurant at 1930.
After that sumptuous dinner of ours, we went over to my sister’s house to pick up Cyera and headed home for a good night’s sleep.
Day 12: 28.02.2007 (Wednesday)
Today is a day for us to pick some things up, change currency, shopping and get my car washed. We went to Midvalley for some shoe shopping and also exchanged some currency.
Before heading home for dinner we met up with my dad for some happy hour drinks at a bar nearby. Dinner tonight consisted of “Yee Sang”. It’s a Malaysian styled CNY dish where there are many types of vegetables, crackers, preserved bits & raw fishes. You are to mix everything up and pull it as high as possible as it is believed to bring luck and prosperity.
After dinner we started packing up our bag for the trip to Phuket tomorrow. After packing we went to bed early to avoid tiredness the next day.
Our flight to Phuket was at 1230 so we got up, showered and got my mom to send us to the bus station to catch a bus to the airport. The bus took 1 hour to arrive and the ride was not good at all.
What surprised me was the Air Asia flight. It seems that they are changing all the fleets to Airbus 320 so our fleet was new and it was pretty spacious. What made it even better was the friendly flight attendants. I have heard stories about the friendly flight attendants but I was a little sceptical until I saw it with my own eyes. They served with a passion and always putting a smile on their face.
We arrived at Phuket a little more than an hour and took an airport taxi to the Coconut Village Resort. It wasn’t a glamorous hotel but it was good enough for the both of us. When I walked pass the pool to get to the room, I noticed that I was the only Asian guest there. It was full of whites!
After settling down we went to the beach and had a short tan. Towards the evening, we had a short nap and a late dinner.
After dinner we took a walk to the famous Patong Beach and bought some stuffs. I don’t know if it is because of C, the bargaining prices that they start off with are extremely high. I do have a feeling that this beach is too touristy. We see whites everywhere; in fact majority of them are whites.
After buying some stuff, we went back to the hotel to relax and slept.
We got up at approximately 0900 Phuket time and went for our breakfast at the pool side café. After breakfast, we packed our stuffs and headed straight to the beach. We had some fruits, tanned, and left a little passed noon. While we were tanning (under the shade), C kept asking me if he was darker. I kept telling him that I can’t see much difference from before.
When we got back to the hotel, we suddenly realized that C was so pink. Therefore we concluded that you have to be indoors and away from the sun in order to notice if the tanning was enough.
We rested and later in the evening took a walk to the Patong Beach again and had our dinner. After dinner we went back to a shop we were at last night and bought some clothes.
After that we retreated back to the room and rested. By now, C looks like a cooked lobster.
Today we leave Phuket and return to Kuala Lumpur. We had our breakfast, packed up and creamed C. At about 1130, we departed from the resort to the airport via the hotel taxi.
After checking in and going through customs, we had a smoke before boarding the flight at about 1315. We then arrived at Kuala Lumpur LCCT at approximately 1345. After arrival we took a feeder bus to KLIA and then took an airport taxi home.
In the evening, we had dinner at a good friend’s restaurant. I love this restaurant because the owner is very dedicated to his work. He now has 2 restaurants but he still cooks for one of them; and he cooks well.
After dinner the owner told us to stay for a little while longer as a troupe will be here for a lion dance. The lion dance is meant to bless the restaurant and exterminate all the evil away. We stayed and watched the lion dance and later went to a Karaoke for some singing sessions.
Both I and Carmen think that we have lost the passion, mood and spirit to sing. It feels like our throat is out there to kill us anytime. We sang for about 3 hours and everyone got tired so we went home at about 0200.
C got a really bad itch on his eye this morning so he got up early. I got up and fell back asleep and got up and fell back to sleep. I finally got out of bed at a little passed noon. At about 1400 we went to Klang for some Pork soup breakfast.
After breakfast we rested at home the entire day. We watched some movies and we also had the last CNY meal at home as today is the last day of CNY. C was so glad that CNY is finally over because it signifies the end of the CNY feast.
After dinner we had a game of Monopoly and went to bed at about 0200.
Today is a free day. All we need to do is to make sure that we pack up early tonight because we will be leaving very early tomorrow morning to the airport for departure to Manila, Philippines.
We went out for some shopping again today and bought some stuffs. We were home quite early today. I have no idea what happened to me but I had some emotional breakdown and went to bed early. We got up in the middle of the night and started packing our stuffs. After that, we went back to bed.
We got up this morning at about 0430. Our flight today is at 0720 so we must arrive at the airport by 0630. We have decided to drive and park my car at the airport because it takes a shorter time to drive there and it is cheaper than taking a taxi.
We arrived at the airport, parked my car and checked-in. We had our breakfast at McDonalds again. After buying some cigarettes at the duty free shop, we boarded our flight.
When we arrived at Clark airport, we discovered that this is an ex-US army airport. This airport is actually approximately 1 ½ hours from Manila town itself. So we took a taxi and arrived at the hotel at about 1330.
I was a little shocked to see the town. It wasn’t what I expected it to be. I wasn’t expecting anything great but in my recognition, a big city is like Kuala Lumpur. To me, Kuala Lumpur is chaotic enough. Or maybe it could be as bad as Bangkok. But it wasn’t like that at all. It is like a really filthy, noisy, busy, chaotic place.
We didn’t know where to have our lunch so we ended up having our lunch at the coffee house.
I was sitting at the coffee house and was shaking my head. It really was a shock to me! I thought Kuala Lumpur was bad. But this is the worst I have seen. C was not so shock as he has seen much worse. He expected the same with Kuala Lumpur but was also a little surprise that Kuala Lumpur was not as bad as he thought.
After lunch we went back to the room and took a nap. We woke up at about 1800 and watched some TV. Not long after that we went out to search for food and to look around. As we stepped out of the hotel and trying to figure out where we are on the map, an Aussie guy came over and asked if we are lost. We chatted for a while and he gave us some tips on where to go and so on.
We were too lazy to go anywhere far so we just took a walk to the Bay Boulevard. It was not easy crossing the streets as there are not much pedestrian crossings available. We walked along the bay and passed by many stalls with restaurant facilities. Here, most of the stalls have got life performances of bands and so on.
We saw a group of people standing there watching some performance so we got a little curious of what’s going on. It was the band that attracted the public. There was a female singer in short skirt singing in the band. We were like… OK… Hmm… Let’s continue walking.
The next stop had much bigger crowd, so we stopped to look again. There were 3 girls in micro skirts in the band and the crowd was cheering high and low.
So, we walked and walked again. This time, the crowd was humongous. We were trying to bet on how many girls there are in this group. Guess what? It’s an all girl band. It’s funny for us because it seems that these people are just standing by the streets listening. In fact, I don’t think that they are listening; they’re just watching the girls.
We walked more and turned back toward the direction of our hotel and found a bar which the Aussie guy recommended. We went in and to our surprises; it was full of white old men and young ugly local chicks. Needless to say more, we had a beer and saw the Aussie guy there. It’s not easy to describe what we saw.
After that we went to a steakhouse (of course also with loud live band) and had our dinner. Pilipino are quite musical talented in general. We had our dinner and went back to the room to sleep.
Day 19: 07.03.2007 (Wednesday)
We got up late this morning and missed our breakfast. We hung around the room until about noon and went out searching for food.
For me, I feel a little stressed with the amount of noise and the condition of the city. We had our lunch and were supposed to go to the museum. We decided to go back to the hotel and hang around.
Later in the night, we got up and went back to the bar named G-Point (from last night). This time, there were even more people and we had our dinner there. It was also funny that some white men looked at me and was probably wondering if I was for rent. Many local chicks also looked at C and were definitely wondering if this young white man is renting. We saw so many things like men stroking the girls’ private parts and vice versa. It was really funny for us.
We felt that we are watched and wanted. After that, we walked back to the hotel. Oh, I forgot to mention the fact that some local people on the street offered to sell Viagra to C and also offered room rentals. It does hurt us a little that there are so many homeless people on the streets and that so many women are for rent.
On our way back, we went to the 7-Eleven (Asian 24 hour convenient store) and bought some Pilipino gin and other stuffs. The gin is really good; 80% alcohol. It’s so smooth that it burns only in the mouth but not in the throat. After just a little bit of those, we fell into the bed and slept.
We got up pretty early today as the taxi is picking us up at 0800. We packed up and had something to eat at the coffee house. C went to the nearby 7-Eleven for some last minute shopping; for gin of course.
I have so much to say about the stupidity of the Clark airport but I think that it’s not so appropriate to mention here. All I want to say it that it’s a really small airport and it was released from the US Air force more than 16 years ago. Still, they have this mentality that someone is set to blast and attack it.
We arrived back at the airport and drove back home. In the evening we went for Southern Indian dinner and in the night, my dad ate the “BALUT” (it’s some Pilipino delicacy where the duckling is about to hatch from the egg. It is an egg). We also had some gin and went to bed.
We got up late today and went to do some shopping at 1-Utama. In the evening, we were supposed to meet up with some of my friends for a drink but I cancelled it because I had a pretty bad headache.
We went home and played a little of the UNO STACKO with my mom. We made quite some noise but my dad slept soundly because he was a little drunk from his annual dinner from the company.
Tonight is my sister’s wedding dinner. We got up and hung around and also went to the pool. In less than an hour at the poolside, it started to rain. So we went back to the house and rested.
We prepared ourselves and went for my sister’s wedding dinner. We meet many of family friends and also had quite a blast. Some got drunk and some got REALLY drunk. We ended up driving Chai’s car and my car home.
We arrived home at about 0300 and C had another 2 beers and we went to bed.
Today is a relaxing day. We got up late and hung around and had hotpot dinner with my sister. After that we went to Starbucks @ The Curve and had some drinks with my friends.
After some drinks, Kong Meng (my tattoo artist) arrived and we moved to a bar instead. We had some drinks and went home after that.
Today we went to the Aquaria. It’s in KLCC. It’s an underworld aquarium. We were there with Chai’s sisters and nephews.
After that we had lunch at Suria KLCC and then we went to Low Yatt Plaza (IT centre). It was so crowded we left as soon as we bought the stuffs that we want. It took us about an hour to arrive home because of the busy traffic. That is one of the reasons why I don’t like to go into the city.
At night after dinner with my grandparents, we went to LUNA BAR. It’s a bar in KL city and it is on the 33rd floor overlooking the city. My dad felt uneasy because he is afraid of heights. Although we all think that it’s actually not very safe as the glass is not fully fastened into the wall; it was a nice place.
The rest left early and we also left about an hour after that. On our way home, C was craving for a Double Cheese Burger so we went to the Centre Point McD drive-through. After I had a bite of his burger, we decided to go to the other McD near IKEA to get another one for him and one for me. Guess what? We ended up buying 3 more. So, the conclusion – he had 3 Double Cheese Burgers and I had 1.
Today we hung around the house and had barbecue dinner at my sister’s house. I was not in a very good mood that evening. I know that it’s not so appropriate to mention it here, but I believe that it’s honest to do so.
Perhaps we have been in Malaysia for too long. I miss Berlin. And also for the first few days with my family was okay; but I think this time we hung around for too long.
I thought some things would have changed a little but then to my disappointment; it didn’t. My old man is still as egoistic as ever and I do feel a little offended when he somehow keeps asking me to do things for him. It’s not that I’m not willing to do it; it’s just that I think that he’s old enough to do his own things and not asking everyone else to do it for him while he just sits there and enjoy his time. Come on, everyone else wants to enjoy it as much as you do.
C noticed that I wasn’t in such a good mood and tried cheer me up. It was a really good and meaningful conversation between us. It is not just a complain-and-get-over-it situation. It was an adult-to-adult talk and not childish scraps.
After the good talk, it was time to go to bed and so we went.
Day 26: 14.03.2007 (Wednesday)
I have decided yesterday that I want that CLARK shoes; so we went back to 1-Utama and bought it. I wanted us to go and have a nice a relaxing foot massage but somehow he didn’t want it as much as I did. So we went home instead and watch some movies.
Dinner was not so official but it was light and easy. Judging by the fact that we will be flying off tomorrow; we stayed indoors most of the time and packed our stuffs.
Tonight, we are leaving back to Berlin. How glad I am to go back. We didn’t go out in the day; instead we went to the pool for a little swim and sun.
My parents are on leave today and my sister also came over to hang out.
In the late afternoon, my mom made a really rich chocolate cake for my dad’s birthday and we had a slice each. The cake was really good and rich.
Dad had a really bad pain in his leg (uric acid) and so we went to the doctor’s before going for dinner. After dinner we went to the airport directly.
There are so many stupid stuffs that happened at the airport but it’s not so nice to say it here. After all, it IS my home country. All I can say is that they are a bunch of liars and always up for “under-table-quick-incomes”.
